Christian Books to Deepen Your Faith: My 2025 Reading List

affiliate disclaimer

If you’re looking for Christian books to deepen your faith—not just inspire you for a moment—this list is for you.

In 2025, I intentionally chose books that challenged my thinking, strengthened my walk with God, and shaped how I live out my faith on a daily basis. These weren’t books I sped through or read casually. They were companions through a difficult season—books that met me where I was and helped me move forward with greater clarity and purpose.

Why These Books Matter

The year began in a very hard place for me.

It was a dark, lonely, and uncertain season—one marked by longing for connection, strength, and purpose. I found myself reaching for books that went beyond surface-level encouragement and instead invited deeper devotion to God, greater self-awareness, and a more grounded confidence in who He created me to be.

That season reshaped how I approached my faith, and I wrote more about it in When Life Feels Heavy: Finding Peace Through Humility and Serving Others, where I share how God met me in the midst of it.

If any of this resonates, this reading list may be for you—especially if:

  • You believe in Jesus and want to draw nearer to Him
  • You’re coming out of a hard season and want to find yourself again
  • You’re heading into a new year with intention and a desire for spiritual growth

There’s no heavy theology here—just practical, accessible teaching rooted in biblical truth and lived faith. Every book on this list can be read in about 15 minutes a day, which is exactly how I read them. No binge-reading required. (Who actually has time for that?)

Top Christian Books I Read in 2025

Know Your Limits—Then Ignore Them by John Mason

Book cover of Know Your Limits—Then Ignore Them by John Mason, a faith-inspired motivational book focused on confidence and personal growth

While not explicitly a Christian book, this one is filled with biblical principles and reads much like a daily devotional. Structured as 101 short “truth nuggets,” it weaves together Scripture, proverbs, and wisdom using both famous and not so famous quotes.

For me, this book was a consistent nudge to step outside my comfort zone and reach for things that felt just a little scary. The bite-sized format made it perfect for starting my day, offering encouragement without overwhelm.

If you struggle with confidence or feel stuck in limiting beliefs, this is a practical and uplifting read.

What About Me? by Joyce Meyer

Book cover of What About Me? by Joyce Meyer, a Christian book about selflessness and living a Christ-centered life

If you’ve ever watched Joyce Meyer teach, you may already be familiar with her famous “What About Me?” robot. In this short but powerful book, she exposes just how deeply self-focused we can become—often without realizing it.

The message isn’t complicated, but it is convicting. Joyce presents a clear choice: continue living for yourself, or choose a selfless life modeled after Jesus.

This book helped me recognize areas where I wasn’t nearly as selfless as I thought. It stung a little—but it ultimately led to healthier, more Christ-centered decisions.

I Surrender All by Priscilla Shirer

Book cover of I Surrender All by Priscilla Shirer, a Christian book about surrendering fully to God and growing in faith

This book pairs beautifully with What About Me? After Joyce knocks you off your personal throne, Priscilla Shirer walks you through what true surrender really looks like.

Each chapter brought conviction through relatable stories and honest reflection. As I read, I became increasingly aware of areas of my life I had not fully surrendered—or maybe didn’t truly want to.

This is a powerful read for anyone ready to take their spiritual life to the next level and fully trust God with every part of their life.

Becoming a Woman of Influence by Carol Kent

Book cover of Becoming a Woman of Influence by Carol Kent, a Christian leadership book on intentional influence and mentoring

This one firmly belongs in my oldie-but-goodie category.

Whether you realize it or not, you have influence. We all do. This book helped me become far more intentional about how I use mine—especially in everyday, often unnoticed moments.

Carol Kent offers practical wisdom for influencing others well, particularly across generational lines. Moms, grandmas, aunts, mentors, and businesswomen will all find encouragement here.

Pawverbs for a Dog Lover’s Heart by Jennifer Marshall Bleakley

Book cover of Pawverbs for a Dog Lover’s Heart by Jennifer Marshall Bleakley, a lighthearted Christian devotional with dog stories

This delightful devotional was a joy to open each morning.

Each short reading includes a dog-centered story (cat lovers—there is a cat version!) that illustrates a Christian principle in a light, relatable way. Expect smiles, laughter, and the occasional tear.

If you’re looking for a devotional-style book that feels warm and accessible, this is a wonderful option—and it works beautifully for family devotions as well.

Honorable Mentions

These didn’t quite make my top five, but they’re still worth mentioning:

How I Choose My Christian Reading Each Year

When I choose books—especially Christian books to deepen my faith—a few criteria are non-negotiable:

  • Nothing anti-Christian. I’ll read books that aren’t written by Christian authors, but not those opposed to biblical truth.
  • Not overly theological. I want practical guidance rooted in Scripture, not academic study.
  • Seasonally relevant. I often choose books that align with what I’m currently struggling with or hoping to grow in.

What I’m Reading Next (A Look Ahead to 2026)

This year, I’m intentionally expanding my reading variety. A few titles on my list include:
