The Gift of One Kidney — A Journey of Faith, Gratitude, and Giving
My living kidney donor journey began in 2016 with one simple yes to something I never expected. What started as an ordinary email turned into a season that taught me more about faith, gratitude, and God’s quiet leading than I could have imagined.
Nearly a decade later, I’m revisiting that story — not as a medical account, but as a testimony of grace. This four-part series shares the journey from the first moment I felt prompted to act, through the waiting, surgery, recovery, and the ripples that continue even today.
Whether you’re curious about living kidney donation or walking through your own season of trust, I hope this story encourages you to see how gratitude can shape obedience — and how one small yes can grow into something beautiful.

Part 1 – Giving Thanks by Giving Life
In 2016, one quiet yes began my journey as a living kidney donor. What started as a simple email turned into an unexpected act of obedience, faith, and gratitude. This first post shares how the prompting began—and how a single step of courage became the start of a miracle.

Part 2 – Faith Over Fear
The testing process was an emotional mix of excitement, fear, and deep uncertainty. Yet in the waiting, God replaced fear with peace and taught me what it truly means to trust His leading. In Part 2, I share how faith steadied my heart through one of the hardest parts of the journey.

Part 3 – The Miracle of Healing
Recovery after surgery became its own sacred season—slow, humbling, and filled with unexpected lessons in gratitude. Through stillness, kindness, and God’s steady presence, healing transformed more than just my body. This post reflects on the spiritual and emotional gifts found in recovery.

Part 4 – Much To Be Thankful For
Nearly nine years after donating my kidney, gratitude runs deeper than ever. In this final chapter, I reflect on the lasting impact of donation—the joy of full health, the blessing of seeing Katherine thrive, and the everyday moments that now carry richer meaning. Part 4 closes the series with a reminder that gratitude is more than a feeling; it’s a daily practice and a posture of the heart.
Thanks for following along with this series. Sharing this story has reminded me just how much can happen when we follow a nudge, take a step of faith, and stay grateful through all the ups and downs. I hope these posts encouraged you in some way and reminded you that gratitude shows up in both the big moments and the everyday ones.
